Shortly after we moved to The Grantham House, I received a message from Joanne.  Most people reach out to us wanting to schedule a photo session, or to get wedding information, but Joanne was contacting me about something completely different.  

Her request surprised me, brought tears to my eyes, and instantly made me say YES!

Joanne was wanting to plan special surprise for her boyfriend Scott.  Scott was getting ready to celebrate a day that was very special to him, his adoption day.  Scott’s parents had always made his adoption day a big deal growing up. They made it a time for celebration and to demonstrate how loved and chosen he was. Scott’s parents have since passed on, and Joanne wanted to do something to make the day as special as his parents had.

She wanted to surprise Scott with a dinner for two at The Grantham House. But this was more than just a dinner at a fun location,  Scott actually grew up here at The Grantham House.  This was his family’s home.  His parents lovingly restored this home, and it had always been a place of belonging for him.

Scott hadn’t been back to this home in years, and Joanne felt like it would be the perfect way to celebrate his adoption day. As an adoptive mother myself, this just pulled at ALL of my heart strings.   You can read more about Joanne’s surprise here.

After that we stayed in contact with Joanne and Scott.  I have loved watching their love story unfold via Instagram, of course!

When Scott proposed to Joanne, I was ecstatic when she told me they wanted to have their wedding at The Grantham House.   

A wedding is such a special time for anyone, but the fact that the groom was getting married at his childhood home made it feel like a full circle moment, an experience that bonded the past to the present.

The Wedding Day

Joanne was a such a beautiful bride.  During the entire process you could see how much love she and Scott have for each other.  It was evident in the way her face lit up when she saw the flowers he sent her on the morning of the wedding, to his face when he saw her walking toward him to become his wife.  The love between these two is contagious and was apparent to everyone in attendance.

 

During the wedding, the property was filled with friends and family who shared so many wonderful childhood memories from The Grantham House.  

Joanne and Scott were such a joy to work with. We know that their wedding day will be a day that is forever in their memory.  We’re so thankful that we were able to be a part of Joanne and Scott’s story
