2018: Year in Review

Last year at this time we were nervously anticipating our first official year of weddings at The Grantham House.

We kicked off wedding season on January 1st (coldest day of the entire year) with my beautiful sister Cara’s wedding.  I can’t think of a better way to begin our wedding season than seeing my sister marry the man of her dreams at our farm.

The rest of our weddings were a little warmer, but just as beautiful.  The past year has been a whirlwind, and we have enjoyed every minute of it. When I think back to all of our beautiful brides, it hardly seems like we had the privilege to work with all of them in the short span of a year.

This year we got to experience many brides walk down the aisle to start a new life with the man that they love.  Each one had a unique story that brought them to that day, and to The Grantham House.  Each wedding was as unique as the couple who had meticuloulsy planned every detail.

We saw smiles, tears of joy, nervous laughter, first kisses as husband and wife, cake cutting, dancing, and sparkler send-offs.

Take a look at some of the beautiful outdoor weddings we have hosted at The Grantham House this year.

At some point during each wedding, Daniel and I would find ourselves standing in the background taking it all in.  We would see the bride and groom dancing in the open air, under a canopy of twinkling lights and say to one another, “I love that we get to be a part of this”.

It seemed almost surreal to us.  We had spent many hours talking through our dreams of opening our home as a wedding venue, and there we were, helping make dream weddings a reality.

Each couple who got married at The Grantham House this year will talk about their wedding day for years to come.  One day they will tell their children about their wedding. They will reminisce about what they wore, what they ate, whether they smashed cake on each other, and what song was playing during their first dance.  They’ll look back at photos in front of the big red barn and all of the memories of that night will come rushing back.  We understand that, and we don’t take it lightly.  We know just how monumental a wedding day is and feel honored that each couple chose our venue to begin this new chapter in their lives.

After one of our final weddings, the father of the bride came to us with tears in his eyes and a shaky voice, and simply said, “Thank you. Tonight was perfect”.  That moment was priceless.  Each weekend during wedding season we get a front row seat to watching dreams come true.

We have gotten to meet so many amazing couples and their families, caterers, photographers, DJ’s, and wedding guests this year. We’re looking forward with great anticipation to all of our 2019 weddings.
